Due to the Night of Museums, the library services of the ELTE University Library and Archives will be inaccessible on Saturday, on the 21st of June 2025. Everyone is welcome to join our programmes starting at 15.00.
In order to ensure the widest possible access to the results of research, as well as development and innovation, Hungary has joined the international initiative Open Science on the 18th of October 2021. In the spirit of transparency and cooperation, the initiative opens new doors for the exploitation and innovative dissemination of scientific results using modern technological and digital developments.
With the support of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary, the Eötvös Loránd University Library and Archives acquired modern storage bags for the photographs of the university history collection.
Thanks to the Foundation for the University Library, from September in our rental area a new section of the latest editions is available, under title „New books”. Our readers can find a frequently updated collection of books in Hungarian and other foreign languages, with a wide range of topics in the fields of history, arts, cultural and religious history, philosophy, psychology, linguistics and literary studies.
Oxford University Press has put a list of articles on its website with the aim of providing early-stage researchers with a comprehensive picture of information about publishing in journals. The collection is fully open until 31st of October 2021.

You can choose from hundreds of free-to-take books and duplicate journals from the past ten years on the 14th of October, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the library foyer. Do not miss this opportunity, you just have to come for it! Everybody is welcome!
MTMT training sessions are organized by ELTE ULA Education and Research Support Department and Library of Faculty of Humanities for the international lecturers, students, PhD candidates of FOH. MTMT beginners’ and advanced training (for max. 15 person each) is offered free of charge, but registration is required.
In the frame of the Researchers' Night 2021, we were waiting for the science and research enthusiasts with the presentation of Bartos-Elekes Zsombor's representative publication entitled Mappæ Comitatuum Transylvaniæ, and with interactive guided tours at our Eötvös exhibition. Annamária Csókási's presentation Cultures torn apart – Cultural damage assessment with military technology in Nagorno Karabakh took place in our library, as well as a solo concert by Kata Borsos, featuring works by Biber, Telemann, Bach and Sándor Veress. We welcome all visitors to our library at the Autumn Festival of Museums with colorful programmes.
The Eötvös Loránd University Library and Archives has joined the Russian-initiated Holy Places of Undivided Christianity project, which aims to virtually collect memorials and museum documents related to saints and church history before the 1054 East–West schism.
In the frame of the Autumn Festival of Museums, between the 27th of September and the 11th of November 2021, we invite science and research enthusiasts to an interactive guided tour at our exhibition entitled The Enchantment of Accuracy – The Life and Work of Loránd Eötvös. Our guests can take part in Duo Perpetual concerts, Bach concerts, restoration workshop and library tours. As part of the old book presentations, you can gain an insight into the special publications of our library. All visitors are welcome!
The Reader Room of the ELTE University Library and Archives will be closed on the 24th of September, 2021 from 09.00 to 20.00 due to the lectures of the Researchers' Night events. In all our other reading rooms, we are waiting for our readers until 20.00 according to the usual opening hours. All visitors are welcome at the Researchers' Night programs!

The anniversary exhibition of the Botanical Garden can be visited in the castle building and in the whole area of the garden until the 30th of May 2022.

ELTE University Library pleased to announce a new series of Research Data Management Trainings presented by the working group of Hungarian Open Repositories (HUNOR), National Research Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH) and the College of University Library Directors (EKK). Unlike the previous workshops of this series this event is a face-to-face meeting. During the workshops, the focus will be on research data management standards and the FAIR principles, which serve to ensure sustainability and greater visibility.
Oxford University Press and EISZ have signed an agreement under which articles submitted by ELTE’s corresponding author for the publisher's hybrid journals may be published in Open Access in 2021 without APC.
