The ELTE University Library and Archives’ series of therapy dog programs concluded with great success

The ELTE University Library and Archives’ series of therapy dog programs during exam season concluded amid great interest. As part of the initiative, more than a thousand students participated in 21 sessions featuring five therapy dogs. The program’s goal was to contribute to students’ mental well-being and provide support amid the increased stress of exam season.

During the sessions, therapy dogs and their handlers from the Dogs for People Foundation and the Dogs for Smiles Foundation welcomed the participants. At the scheduled times, our students waited in long lines to meet the four-legged helpers, who created a calm, safe, and supportive atmosphere.

Based on student feedback, the time spent with the dogs noticeably reduced the stress and anxiety associated with exam season. These shared experiences brought joy and a sense of renewal, helping students unwind, refocus their attention, and prepare more effectively for their studies.

The overwhelming interest in the program and the positive feedback from participants have reinforced our commitment to continuing this initiative in the future, supporting our students’ well-being during exam periods.
