From the 30th of May 2023, ELTE University Library will open the ground-floor training room from the lobby to library users, offering free and gratis use of 10 library laptops.

The ELTE University Library and Archives offers extended opening hours for readers and students on weekdays and Saturdays between the 30th of May and the 1st of July 2023 until 22.00 hours, on a trial basis. Our training room will also be available, offering free computer access and learning opportunities.

What can a Latin entry in humorous Greek letters in an 11th century Gospel book tell us? Who and why would have had a small manuscript booklet of Janus Pannonius' letters made in the early 16th century? What did the user of a Janus volume think of the poet's epigrams? Find out in our virtual exhibition, based on the chamber exposition entitled „Janus Pannonius from Humanism to the Baroque”, on display from September to November 2022.

Between 1635 and 1773, many distinguished Jesuits of great knowledge taught at our university, leaving a lasting mark on the history of the institution. In April our feature is on the founder of our university’s medal collection, Leopold Fischer.

We would like to inform our visitors that due to the ongoing storage cleaning work, some of our stock sections will be unavailable or only partially available from the 10th of May 2023 until the end of May.

This year, ELTE Trefort Ágoston Teacher Training High School celebrated the 150th anniversary of its foundation and adopted eight prints of great significance to the history of the school, which are preserved in the ELTE University Library and Archives.

In April our feature is on the collector of Hungarian history sources and the most significant figure in Jesuit ascetic literature, Gábor Hevenesi.

Due to an event, the ELTE University Library and Archives will be closed on Friday, on the 21st of April 2023. From Saturday, from the 22nd of April 2023, we will be open again.

In March our feature is on Ferenc Weiss, one of the founders of the Buda University Observatory and a pioneer of engineering education in Hungary.

As part of our service expansion, self-service scanning became available in our library from the 1st of March 2023.

The ELTE University Library and Archives will be open from the 27th of February 2023 with full opening hours.

Support the restoration of old Hungarian books of the ELTE University Library and Archives! In 2023, we recommend the pieces of one of the most valuable collections of the University Library, the ‘Old Hungarian Prints Collection’ to adopt.
