As part of the ELTE Heritage Coordination program run by the ELTE University Library and Archives, and funded by this year's collection preservation budget, the Rector's Office initiated the restoration of the historical dean's chain of the Faculty of Law and Political Science. The chain, which had been damaged over the decades, was restored by Szilvia Döbrentei, a goldsmith and restorer working for ARCHEOLORE Kft.

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2025. Among its members are many distinguished students and teachers who have left their mark not only on the Academy but also on the history of our institution. Imre Szentpétery (1878-1950) historian, university professor was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences from 1929.

As part of the Autumn Festival of Museums, between 13 October and 7 November 2025, we invite lovers of science and books to a presentation of our restoration workshop, guided tours on library and university history.

Péter Bacsó's satire became a cult film even while it was banned. To this day, the film remains an instructive and entertaining memento of one of the most oppressive periods in Hungarian history. After the screening, discussions with experts will focus on topics such as film censorship.

Our latest podcast episode is now available, focusing on the services and developments of the ELTE Library WebApp. The discussion highlights how the application replaces the traditional paper-based library card, simplifies borrowing and membership management, and expands the possibilities of online services.

Due to the Cultural Heritage Day, the library services of the ELTE University Library and Archives will be inaccessible on Saturday, on the 20th of September 2025. Everyone is welcome to join our programmes starting at 10.00.

The ELTE University Library and Archives will be closed on 17 September 2025 (Wednesday) due to technical reasons.

As part of Cultural Heritage Days, our program series will open on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with a performance by the ELTE Folk Dance Ensemble in the Reading Hall of the ELTE University Library and Archives.

On the occasion of Cultural Heritage Day, our mini exhibition presents the major turning points in the history of Eötvös Loránd University, with the help of memorabilia from the University Library and Archives. All visitors are welcome!

During the Cultural Heritage Day, visitors are invited to create individual bookmarks in our second floor Boardroom.

During the Cultural Heritage Day, visitors can build a library palace, assemble fragmented pieces of our codex pages with our library puzzles, as well as on the occasion of the Jókai Memorial Year, put together pictures related to the writer's life and works.
